Several methods are used including the traditional Japanese embroidery called Sashiko. GABRIAC designs are exclusive embroidered in Paris and London.
The technical Sashiko is intimately linked to the history of Japan and its traditions. Dating back to the sixth century, this embroidery from used to repair work clothes or cushioning them to make them warmer, has become over time a refined embroidery with the spread of cotton. In the nineteenth century during the Meiji period, once lifted the ban on wearing cotton clothing, women began to embroider on the indigo fabric with white cotton thread, creating a dotted line effect. Their aesthetic taste, combined with the technical development has given rise to a multitude of decorative motifs, often inspired by nature (geometric stylization, animals, plants, waves) or patterns that symbolize the quest for happiness and prosperity for the family.
